Uganda Bound

Jay and I are leaving for Uganda this afternoon! We will be joining a team of 36 people and will be gone for 2 weeks. We will be working in the schools, prisons, orphanage, doing a medical clinic and pastors/wives conference.

We fly into DC on a Friday night at 8:00 pm and we have to catch a flight out to Orlando FL at 10:00 pm for our friends Lindsey and Jeremy's wedding. We will then Catch a ride up to Columbia, SC where we have a car there that we will drive back to VA for Jay and I to start back to work on Tuesday. It will be a whirlwind the next 2 weeks but we are so excited about it!

Easter 2011

< We had a crazy Easter weekend. I worked on Saturday till 1:30, I ran to the dollar store to get some things for Easter Sunday and I had Jay go to the grocery store for me to get the things I needed for Lunch on Sunday. I rushed through the dollar store and got to my in-laws house at 2:30 and we all jumped in the car to head to see the McDougals in Charleston, SC for Our Nieces' 1st birthday party.

We got to Charleston around 5 hung out with the family ate dinner and had a little birthday party. We spent the night then left early Sunday morning so that we could all be at our own churches for Easter. We were only 5 minutes late for church... (Which is pretty normal even when we are not traveling ;)

This was our first Easter as a married couple. It was fun starting our OWN traditions and going to OUR Church for Easter. We had a great Resurrection Sunday. After church we got home and I started lunch. Jay's parents came over and we had a great relaxing afternoon. Jay and I took a nap from 3-6. Then decided to go down to the pond and go fishing. Of course I caught nothing, and he caught about a 1.5lb bass. Oh well. It was a nice evening to be outside anyway. Then we stayed up till 1 Watching NCIS and working on a puzzle(thats another blog for another day)

Blessed

Yesterday I heard of a friend of a friend had a massive heart attack and is not expected to live. He has a wife and 2 little girls in elementary school. Today I got a text message letting me know about a girl in my 8th grade small group whos father just got out of heart surgery and has not woken upAnd the Doctors are not expecting him to. Everyday, I'm keeping up with the progress of Garren Janes, a 14 year old boy who collapsed suddenly at school and has been in the hospital for 2 months and is slowly recovering. (you can read about his story here). Unless God works some kind of miracle, in the next few days there are going to 2 little elementary school girls and an 8th grade girl without a father, and 2 wives without a husband. Right now there is a mother, father, and two sisters are working tirelessly trying to do everything they can to help their son/brother recover from this brain injury. 
All of these families lives have changed drastically and they are grieving some kind of loss.
My heart breaks for these families and i know there are hundreds of smiliar stories and hurting families. 

Because of this, I can't help but think of how blessed I am. 
I am reminded of how much I take for granted, how selfish And discontented I am so often. 
We may not have alot of money, we may not drive the nicest vehicles, we may not have the biggest house or a full take of gas, we may eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a month because we can't afford any more groceries.
But I have beautiful one bedroom apartment, A husband who loves me, enough money to pay bills and keep us from being hungry. 2 vehicles that got us from A to B. 2 great jobs, a wonderful Godly family whom are all in Good health. God has truly blessed me. The next time I am tempted to complain about how small our apartment is, not having enough money to buy an extra shirt or go out to dinner, I will try to remember the heartache that my friends are going through and I hope I will become grateful for how God has blessed me. 

I know that at any moment God could choose remove my own or my families health, He could choose to take our money away, or send us through a tremendous storm. If he so chooses, I hope that I will continue to praise Him and give Him the glory as the Janes family has done. 

For now, I will praise the Lord and proclaim that I know it is Him who has blessed us and I am truly grateful! 
Lord forgive me for bing so selfish  and discontented. Thank you for the reminder of how you have blessed me! 

Never would he ever

Never would he ever, Invite a friend over for dinner and forget to tell me.

Never would he ever, forget that this friend is coming over and initiate some "intimate time" together right before dinner.

Never would he ever, forget that he opened the window in the living room, only for this friend to announce his presence.

Never would he ever, look at me and pretend that he didn't hear anything

3 years

February 14, 2008 -This guy took me out long horn stake house, then to the state house in columbia, SC we walked around the state house looking at all the statues as he told me the stores behind them all. Then we walked up the steps to the top of the state house and sat down to talk. We laughed, flirted, talked, then he looked at me and told me that he had talked to my dad and got his permission to pursue a relationship with me. Then he asked if he had my permission too... I said "of course"! After that we went to starbucks then came back to campus and watched a move that I cannot for the life of me remember what it was. That is where it all began

February 14, 2009- The same guy picks me up infront of my dorm at 4:50 am.

I had no idea what in the world we could be doing that we had to get up so early. We drove down to Charleston, SC to the beach to watch the sun rise. He packed us a breakfast basket and we enjoyed the morning on the beach.

February 14, 2010- He had planned an entire day trip to Asheville to ride horses. However, it was cold and rainy that day so we had to improvise and got all dressed up and went out Red Robin. Not as good as riding horses but Still time with my man! (sorry don't have any pictures)

March 15, 2010- That same guy that asked to purse a relationship with me 2 years previous, Got down on his knee at Smith Mountian Lake. VA on a dock lit up with christmas lights and glow sticks and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him!

Setember 10, 2010- I walked down an aisle in Vinton, VA to marry the Love of my life. We had a perfect day! It was everything that I dreamed it would. It was a beautiful day and we were able to celebrate it with some of our closest friends and family!

February 14, 2011- I woke up to breakfast in bed with the same guy that took me to the state house 3 years ago! Not sure what the rest of the day will hold! :)

Jay Allan Ezelle, I love you so much. The last 3 years have been so wonderful! I am so glad that we continue to date now that we are married. The past 5 months has been amazing! I am so blessed to be your wife. I cannot wait for the next 3 years that we get to spend together! Happy first Valentines day and happy 3 year anniversary
